Programs

A variety  of programs are offered for groups large and small, for children and adults, and can be held in or outdoors at your site.

  • Maximum number of programs is 4 to 5 per day, depending on the program & timing.
  • No mileage fees for destinations under 40 miles roundtrip. 41+ miles = $50

Events, Fairs, and Community Centers

Host IREEC at your site for one-of-a-kind programs, which include 3 to 4 live animals, bio facts and hands-on demonstrations based on audience ages. Choose from these topics:

Hunters of the Sky – live hawks & owls, natural history, adaptations, conservation measures

Awesome Owls – live owls, natural history, adaptations, conservation measures

Amazing Animal Adaptations – live hawks & owls, snake or turtle, features for survival

Pennsylvania Wildlife – live owl or hawk, snake & turtle, highlighting some PA wildlife species – threats to them, roles in local ecosystems, & conservation measures

Reptiles! – live snakes & turtle(s), natural history, adaptations, conservation measures

Owl Encounters & Night Walk – live owl program followed by night walk to call for owls*

Interactive Exhibit – educational booth with informal, live animal talks, display of furs, feathers, shells and skulls for guests to touch and explore, informational handouts, nest boxes and other products for sale (optional).**

Live Owl Appearance – A unique addition to a special day. Great for weddings, birthdays, community fairs, and other events. ***

1 hour program = $300 / Additional, same-day, consecutive programs = $100 each

Nature’s Little Explorers – Children ages 2 through 5

These classes are designed to teach young children and their caregivers more about wildlife and nature in their backyards through activities, visits from animals, stories, and take-home crafts. 

Programs are offered for a season or throughout the year, and are geared towards the general public if held at a library; or for preschool students at area schools. Contact us to discuss topics.

30-45 minutes = $200 for one program, or discounted for series of 2 or more

Maximum 15 to 20 children

Birthday Parties – Animal Meet and Greet

Host some special visitors for your next birthday party! A meet and greet includes two live animals, learning about their natural history, habitats and fun facts, and bio facts to examine.

(Optional) For children’s parties, add a wildlife craft for each guest to create. All supplies provided.

45 minutes = $250 / Wildlife craft = additional $35 total  /  Maximum 15 children

Boy and Girl Scout Groups

Programs travel to your location and content is based on requested Badge activities or other topics. Live animals, day or evening nature walks with activities, and small craft projects are included. Contact us to discuss program details.

75 minutes = $200  /  Maximum 15 Scouts

Summer Camp Groups

Add a unique touch to your summer camp with a visit from live animals! Choose from these topics:

  • Fur, Feathers and Scales – live owl, snake & turtle, puppets, bio facts, different animal groups
  • Wildlife Detectives – live owl, snake & turtle, bio facts, using our senses
  • Claws, Scales and Tails – live snakes & turtles, bio facts, reptile senses

20 minutes for ages 1 to 4 / 35 minutes for ages 5 and up

First program = $225  /  Additional, same-day programs = $75 each

Maximum 60 children per program

School Groups

Designed to aid teachers in meeting curriculum standards for environmental and natural sciences, these fun and educational, cross-curricular programs will enhance students learning through use of live animals and bio facts, visuals and hands-on demonstrations to learn different concepts.

Topics for Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st Grade:

  • Fur, Feathers and Scales – live owl, snake & turtle, puppets, bio facts, different animal groups
  • Wildlife Detectives – live owl, snake & turtle, puppets, discovery tools, bio facts, using our senses
  • Claws, Scales and Tails – live snakes & turtle, bio facts, reptile senses and function in environment
  • Animals of the Night – live snake & owls, bio facts, puppets & a story, senses of different animals that help them survive

35 minutes = $200  /  Additional, same-day programs = $75 each

Maximum 30 children per program

Topics for 2nd through 12th grades:

  • Hunters of the Sky – live hawks & owls, natural history, adaptations, conservation measures
  • Awesome Owls – live owls, natural history, adaptations, conservation measures
  • Amazing Animal Adaptations – live hawk & owl, snakes or turtle, features for survival
  • Habitats are Home – live hawk or owl, snakes or turtle, habitat components and needs, how to conserve local habitats
  • Pennsylvania Wildlife – live hawk or owl, snake & turtle, highlighting some PA wildlife species – threats to them, roles in local ecosystems, & conservation measures
  • *What is a Watershed? – learn about the land-water connection through hands-on activities, where students discover how water becomes polluted, how to prevent such pollution, & conserve local water resources. Teachers can also receive a storybook to read to the students prior to the program.
  • *Stream or Pond Study (body of water at site required) – Assess the health of your community’s aquatic habitats through collection and study of aquatic life, and discussion and demonstrations on water pollution causes and prevention.

45 to 60 minutes = $300  /  Additional, same-day programs = $100 each / Maximum 60 students per program

*What is a Watershed? and Stream or Pond Study = 75 minutes = $325. Contact us for discounts on multiple water-based programs. Maximum 25 students per program.

After School Nature Discovery Club – at schools or community centers

Club engages children’s curiosity of the natural world through nature discovery walks, live animals, activities, stories and crafts.

Recommended for children in grades 2 and 3, Club is generally held weekly, for 1.5 hours after school, for at least 4 sessions during a season, and limited to 10 participants per season. Contact us to discuss topics, fees and further details.
